Should You Bring Pumped Milk Along for Your Breastfed Baby?

Instead of Nursing In Public, Isn’t It Easier To Just Pump And Bring A Bottle Of Your Own Milk?. . .

Not really. When you nurse your baby “on cue,” you can usually calm your baby instantly and you never have to worry about forgetting the bottle or finding a place to warm it up!

Plus, it’s no big deal if you end up staying longer than you had planned.

Pumping is NOT easier and takes lots of preplanning:

• You must give up some of your precious time to pump and store your milk.
• You need to figure out how you’re going to transport it and how you’re going to keep it warm or warm it up.

• You’ll also have to deal with some clean up when you get home.

There are other problems created when a mom decides to give her baby breast milk in a bottle.

Ever heard of nipple confusion? It’s when a baby has trouble switching back and forth between breast and bottle.

You also run a higher risk of developing a plugged duct or breast infection when you start delaying feedings at the breast. In fact, if you start skipping feedings, you might get pretty uncomfortable with full breasts and your supply may go down a bit.

One other reason to go ahead and nurse in public instead of pumping & bringing your own milk…..you’ll miss out on a common form of relaxation. You heard it right!

Relaxation. When you breastfeed, your body releases prolactin, which keeps you more relaxed and balanced.

Have you ever noticed a feeling of calmness while nursing your baby? That’s the prolactin, which is sometimes referred to as the “mothering hormone” since it helps you feel more motherly toward your baby.

A funny little story here. I’d heard about prolactin and its calming effects, but sometimes wondered if that’s really why I feel less stressed when I’m breastfeeding. Then, a few weeks ago, I had a common blood test and it happened to show my “prolactin was a little high.” I just had to laugh as I thought, “It really IS true.” I’m a nursing mom and I have the proof!

So, there you have it. The differences between pumping and nursing!

The choice is yours, but countless moms do find it easier, less expensive and more relaxing to fit breastfeeding in with all their daily activities. You can too!

Is warm milk with sugar good or bad/no effect for pneumonia?

I have been drinking warm sugar milk because i helps my throat feel better will this help my pneumonia, make it worse or do nothing except help with the pain?

Robbi, does it make you feel better? Yes? Keep doing it.It will have no effect on the pneumonia but you will be getting nutrition and the rest you need.
I hope it goes without saying that you should see a doctor for treatment.

btw if anyone tells you that “milk causes more mucous” please don’t listen. That’s an old wives tale with absolutely no clincal correlation.
