Yogurt-Honey Mask – 1 T Yogurt, 1 T Honey. Add the two ingredients together and apply to a clean, moist face. Pat this mask onto the skin for a moisturizing, penetrating, hydrating, soothing application that will also help to clear up skin problems.

Whisk together lavender powder, milk and honey in a glass bowl, then pour into a jar. Before each use, shake the jar and pour half of the mixture into the bath. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Makes enough for 2 baths.
Honey Soap – Mix 2-3 tbs honey with lemon essential oil and a little oil together. At tracing, add and mix thoroughly before pouring.

Add Zest to Your Cooking With an Italian Herb Garden
Some of the most familiar culinary herbs in your spice cabinet come from Italy, and they are probably some that you find yourself using over and over. Instead of buying these commercially dried and packaged, why not grow your own useful and tasty herbs? Plant an Italian herb garden, and you’ll have fresh herbs to enjoy all summer, and for years to come.
Probably the most familiar Italian herb is basil, and it’s used an a lot of recipes, not just Italian. It adds a spicy, distinctive taste to your entrees, and is frequently paired with tomatoes and garlic. Think spaghetti sauce and pesto. Basil has other interesting qualities. Plant it beside peppers and tomatoes, and you’ll find they grow more lushly, with more flavor. It also repels some insects.
Another flavorful plant used in Italian and all Mediterranean cooking, is oregano. This perennial herb will grow and spread, so give it room in the garden. It has spikes of purple or white flowers that bees just love. Great for all your plants! Harvest oregano just before it flowers so you get the most intense flavor, and dry it for winter use. After you’ve cut it back, it will bounce back with a second growth spurt that will keep you in fresh oregano until the first hard frost. It is easily dried, and keeps its full flavor.
Parsley is not just an Italian herb, although its flat-leafed variety is referred to as Italian parsley. It is used in many ethnic cuisines, and is probably one of the most commonly used herbs in the world. Italian parsley is more pungent than the familiar curly-leafed one. Both are used in the last moments of cooking, or raw in salads. Many chefs garnish their plates with parsley, but be sure to eat it. It’s a great breath freshener, as well as full of vitamins and minerals.
Fennel is a tall licorice-scented herb, with both leaves and seeds used in cooking. The seeds are often used in Italian sausages, adding a licorice flavor. This perennial will grow up to four feet, so give it some room. It does not transplant well, and is only semi-hardy, so you may want to re-seed it every few years. As the plants age, they also lose flavor.
Rosemary is a highly scented herb used in seasoning meats, poultry and bread. Both the aromatic needle-like leaves and the pretty little blue flowers can be used in cooking. It will grow into a large shrub in temperate areas, but is quite frost intolerant. If you’re in a cold winter area, plant it in a container and bring it indoors in a cool area for the winter.
Every herb garden, and especially an Italian one, should contain garlic. It is one of the most familiar herbs, used to flavor dishes from all countries. Plant healthy full cloves in the fall for next year’s crop. Next spring, you’ll see the green shoots, and by summer the scapes or flower stalks, which should be removed. They can be used in cooking also.
Once the tops have died down, dig the bulbs, clean them and allow them to dry, and keep them in a cool dark place. Properly dried, your garlic bulbs can be kept for months.
Include sage in your Italian herb garden. A wide variety of Italian dishes from meats to breads to salads use sage. It is an easy-to-grow shrubby perennial that should be pruned back hard each spring. Use the new shoots as they are the most flavorful. Dry the leaves for winter use. A tea of sage is said to settle the stomach.
You will want to include the herbs that you use the most in your Italian herb garden, but be open to experiencing all of them. Some, like sage, rosemary and fennel also make good landscaping plants, giving you a double ‘bang for your buck’.
Become familiar with the growing requirements of each plant, and if your garden will not provide them, plant them in containers, where you have the ability to control location, light, moisture and soil conditions. I’m a little nervous about cooking lamb chops for the first time- any pointers?
I have fresh rosemary from my herb garden. I do a lot of cooking, this is just one meat i’ve never tried at home. I’ve only even had it twice in restaurants. I live in the south where lamb is just not a common meat. Below, is my inspiration recipe, though I’m terrible about following them step by step. I usually just cook by ear.
8 (4-ounce) lamb chops
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon finely chopped rosemary leaves
1 lemon, halved
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Preheat a hot grill and the oven to 400 degrees F.
Rub the chops with oil, garlic, rosemary, lemon, salt, and pepper. Place on the grill and cook for 4 minutes on each side. Put on a baking sheet and finish in the oven, about 5 minutes, or until desired doneness.
The recipe sounds nice, but you don’t need to do anything to the chops for them to taste great.
I like to leave chops plain and put them under a hot grill – You need to use a high heat to make sure that the fat browns well – that is where most of the flavour is. I would give them about 5 minutes on each side, and see how brown they are – they may need a little longer depending on your grill.
You don’t need to put them in the oven unless you want the meat well done. You can serve good quality lamb rare, although I prefer mine medium.
Mint is another very good accompaniment for lamb, which you could use in a similar way to the rosemary in your recipe, or add it to whatever you’re serving with the chops.

If you have ever tried Kombucha Tea, you know it is an acquired taste. Store bought Kombucha can be found in many health food, and green grocers through out North America. There are tons and tons of people who swear by the healing properties of this ancient culture that has been passed down through 100’s or thousands of years. While there are stories of cancer cures, and grey hair turning to its natural color, one thing is for sure, Kombucha Tea can be a healthy addition to your diet.
Buying the tea is quite expensive. You can expect to pay $2-$5 usd for a one serving size. So if you crave Kombucha, you may want to brew some at home. This article gives you the basic ingredients you will need for home brewing. First you need a live Kombucha culture or scoby, along with what is called starter tea. This is very strong Kombucha.
Once you have these two main ingredients, you are off to the races so to say. Now you need some green or black loose tea, sugar and water. That’s it! Those simple ingredients are all that is needed for successful home brewing.
Here is the basic steps that you then follow:
1.) Boil up a big pot of water and steep strong tea for 8-10 minutes – I use jumbo home made tea bags to make this step quite easy. No Messy tea leaves to clean up.
2.) Dissolve one cup of sugar in 10 cups of the strong brew tea.
3.) Let all of this cool to room temperature.
4.) Put your culture and starter liquid in a big glass (must be glass) container and gently pour the COOLED tea over the top.
5.) Place a paper towel over the top and secure with a rubber band.
Now the brewing begins. Place your Kombucha in a warm dark cupboard and check on it after day seven. Have a little taste. This is the best indicator to know if your tea is ready or not. Still sweet? Not done, taste like vinegar? Woops, too long. You get the idea, you have to monitor as you go to get the right flavor. Once this is achieved, you simply strain off the tea and bottle it.
That’s it – you just made a batch of homemade Kombucha!!

How Kombucha Scoby is Produced
Discovered over 2,000 years ago, kombucha culture has been used for generations in the Eastern world to produce a medicinal tea like beverage. Although there are many anecdotal accounts of kombucha health properties, medical investigations are still being undertaken to prove the medicinal properties of kombucha. However, many users believe that this wonderful beverage keeps them healthy and away from illness. Users have often reported increased energy levels and improved immune systems. Regular kombucha tea drinkers claiming they no longer suffer from ill health.
Kombucha culture is used in a simple fermenting process that is often undertaken in a home environment. The culture, or mushroom as it is often referred, is simply added to a mixture of tea and sugar. The fusion of tea, sugar and culture is left in a warm place to undergo a natural fermentation process.
The thick mushroom like substance is often referred to as kombucha scoby. Scoby is an acronym for Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast. It is this combination of healthy bacteria and yeast that yields the health benefits of the tea.
The kombucha scoby forms a thick cloudy layer on top of the tea. It is this mixture of bacteria and yeast that causes the beneficial chemical reaction to occur. After the chemical reaction is complete, the underlying liquid is drained from underneath the scoby. It is this liquid that contains all the beneficial nutrients of the kombucha. Rather than directly discard the scoby layer, it can then be split and reused to create a never ending supply of culture for making kombucha tea.
Often fermenting yeast and bacteria will create an alcoholic beverage. However, kombucha scoby creates a fermented beverage with less than 1% alcoholic content. It is the mixture of acids that the fermenting process creates that are most beneficial to the health and well being of the drinker.
Because of the mixture of yeast and bacteria, kombucha scoby is a living and breathing organism that should be carefully cared for. If brewing kombucha tea at home you should maintain the highest levels of cleanliness so as not to contaminate the culture. If left unprotected, the culture is prone to quickly developing a covering of mould. If your culture shows any signs of mould it is best to discard the culture and start from scratch.

laco-fermented ginger beer?
a few websites advise you to use water kefir, organic Sucanats, whey and ginger to make the starter culture. but my question is, does only one ingrediant or all of them contribute to the micro-organism diversity?
so in other words, is the kefir, sucanats, whey and ginger all working togeather to form the SCOBY or is it just one of them that provides all organisms?
It ferments more like yougart does with the cultures and there is no or a very low alcohol content, it also has a bit of sourish taste, I have bought it here in Canada, Make my own ginger beer without the yeast to ferment it, more a ginger syrup and mix it with club soda, I worked in Jamaica, there they brew it like beer, and it can pack a punch, some are knock you over strong, spicy to.

Killing the Cravings With One Week of Low-carb, Whole Grain Living
Do you have intense food cravings even when you’re not hungry? Sometimes such cravings can be attributed to “emotional eating,†but sometimes cravings happen even when you’re feeling emotionally and spiritually balanced. You feel like you could eat your way through a six-line buffet and then stop for ice cream on the way home.
My experience, and that of my clients, is that cravings are caused by eating carbohydrates, especially sugar, and often bread or pasta. As Jacque said about the intensity of her cravings, “Heaven help the poor sucker who gets between me and that brownie.â€
Some who have tried the high-protein/low-carb diets report that the greatest appeal is the decrease in cravings. Yet some of these diets just go against common sense. Don’t tell me that I shouldn’t have an apple and can eat all the pork chops I want. I’m sorry, that just defies logic.
To help kill the cravings, I created a week-long, low carb, whole grain diet that I call the I-Week diet. You get great nutrition for few calories, and have a diet that makes complete sense and is easy to accommodate. You eat very simply. There are other benefits to the I-Week diet, too, including losing a couple of pounds without counting calories and while managing your energy level. And you will find these low carb, whole grain changes easy to accommodate at restaurants and most gatherings.
The basis of the diet is that you eat all the low carb (non-starchy) vegetables, fruit, lean protein, and whole grain brown rice (or, possibly, other whole grains, if you choose) that you want. Have starchy vegetables and olive oil in moderation. Eliminate all sugar and flour, and watch your cravings disappear along with it.
There are some variables that you will decide—how much dairy, processed food, and other whole grains to include. When I practice this diet, I try to eliminate dairy and processed food because a primary benefit for me is managing my energy level along with my cravings. Baked Whole Grain Brown Rice
I didn’t cook much brown rice when it required hours of pot-watching. Then I discovered this. Extremely simple, it gives the whole grain rice a great texture and nutty flavor.
1 1/2 cups whole grain brown rice, uncooked
2 1/2 cups water
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbs. olive oil
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine ingredients in an eight inch covered baking dish, or a baking dish tightly covered with aluminum foil. Bake for one hour. Remove from oven and if not serving immediately, place rice in colander and rinse with cold water. Drain. Rice can be stored in refrigerator for up to one week or frozen in individual servings and reheated in microwave.
Since the whole grain brown rice might be the only grain you’re having, you’ll find yourself craving it often (but hopefully not craving any of the bad stuff!). Following are two very simple recipes.

Quick Rice and Beans
1/4 cup baked whole grain brown rice, prepared
1/2 cup beans
1 dash hot sauce, to taste Â
Combine ingredients in a non stick skillet and heat through.
Optional additional ingredients: onions, peppers, tomatoes, eggs, broccoli, spinach or other vegetables.

Sweet Spiced Rice
1/2 cup baked whole grain brown rice prepared
1/2 cup soy milk
1 pinch cinnamon
1/2 pinch nutmeg
2 Tbs. dried cranberries Â
Combine all ingredients in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Simmer until all soy milk is absorbed. Replace the cranberries with raisins with other dried or fresh fruit (such as 1/2 cup apple or banana slices). Add a low carb sweetener of your choice to taste (Splenda, Nutrisweet, etc.), if desired.
Most meals on the I-Week diet will be centered around vegetables, which are the ultimate low carb foods, whether they be salads, vegetable soup, stir fry, or roasted vegetables. Then add the whole grain rice and some lean protein to any of these to make it a meal.
Primarily, your lean protein will include baked, grilled, broiled, boiled or canned chicken, fish or seafood. It can also include tofu, beans or eggs. (You can combine egg whites with whole eggs to keep the calorie count lower.) Think of beans first, since they offer the most nutrients for the fewest calories. All of these selections are naturally low carb.
I bake chicken and tofu at the beginning of the week. I open two cans of beans (black, pinto, kidney, garbanzo or cannellini beans), rinse and drain them, and store them in my refrigerator.
If you’re eating at a restaurant, you can usually find a simple lean protein and vegetable of some sort, and whole grain brown rice is often available. Think ahead and decide if you want to have a bowl of soup before you go, so that you’re not too hungry when the bread arrives and can resist the carb-induced cravings.
There are two keys to making the I-Week Diet work for you. One is preparation. Have the basics prepared in advance. The other is acceptance. Remember that your commitment is just for one week so that you can truly enjoy no cravings and bring your thinking and relationship with food back into perspective. When food is this simple, it takes a lot of the romance, and consequently the craving, out of it. That can be a good thing.

Why should you cut out grains and sugars if you have hyperhidrosis?

I’m not quite sure if you should cut out grains and sugars from your diet. It will be quite hard to cut these out of your diet. I believe you would need supplements. For this you should see a special doctor or nutritionist/dietition to see if grains and sugars are really affecting you via hyperhidrosis (HH).
And indeed it is a big problem (for me too), and you should talk to your parents about it more often about HH and how it’s affecting you.

This came out far more delicious than I expected. My experimental butter substitution ended up actually tasting pretty buttery, and much healthier, too. Go figure, but what a happy surprise!
I love a lot of spices in my apple desserts, so I added cinnamon, cardamom, and lots of fresh, minced ginger. The ginger gives it a real kick, and the warming feeling can feel like heartburn. But it will warm you up from the inside, something that may be ideal if the weather is cool or cold. (It’s pretty hot and muggy here this fall.)
You can reduce the amount of ginger, or omit it altogether, if you prefer. Also, some people find cardamom overpowering. If so, add only half the amount in the recipe, then taste, and decide if you want to add the other half called for.
As far as sweetening goes, the amount of sugar you use will depend on how tart or sweet your apples are, and how you like your crisp. Again, start with the smaller amount of sugar, taste, and add more if desired. If you go too sweet, you can add a bit of lemon or lime juice to round out the flavor, probably about 1-3 teaspoons or so.
Vegan Apple Crisp
For the filling:
5 to 6 large apples, cored and chopped
1/2 to 1 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
2 Tablespoons peeled, minced fresh ginger
lemon or lime juice, optional
For the topping:
2 cups oats
1 cup pecans
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup canola oil
2 Tablespoons water
Mix the filling ingredients together well. Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness level.
There is no need to peel your apples! There is a mineral called boron, which is essential to strong bone health, in apple peels. Why throw that away and run the risk of getting osteoporosis? Buy organic apples if possible, and wash your apples well.
For the topping, put half the oats and half the pecans into a blender. Blend until ground. Dump this into a bowl. Repeat with the other half of the oats and pecans.
Add the brown sugar, salt, and flour. Mix well.
Mix in the canola oil. Stir very well to incorporate the oil. You might want to just use your hands. Drizzle in 2 Tablespoons water, or enough so that if you take a handful of the mixture and squeeze it, it will clump together.
Place the filling into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. There will be liquid that has released. Add that as well.
Evenly sprinkle the topping over the entire filling. Press down to create a crust-like layer.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 40 minutes, until the top is lightly browned, the filling is bubbling up around some of the edges, and the apples are tender.
Let cool until it is warm. Consume with gratitude!

I don’t know this type of arbitrage looks like a purely Indian concept. You must be talking about swing trade where in Indian markets the price of one go down when the price of the other go up. Example is Rubber/Cardamom. So when the price of rubber goes up you buy rubber and sell cardamon and when it hits peak you buy cardamon low and sell rubber high.
