What is maca root powder? Has any1 taken it?

I have irregular periods and have been hearing about this maca powder to regulate hormones. Has any1 taken this? Did it work for u?
PS: Dont tell me to take BC pills since I dont like the idea of my glands shutting down and dont like to introduce artificial hormones in my body.

the stuff is awesome. i like it cause the flavor. i didnt really notice anything but i didnt really have any symptoms i was looking to medicate. i just took it for the benefits. plus anything that other cultures promote as healthy (mainly south american or far east) i tend to think are a little better then americas way of promoting good health. this might sound weird but when i first smelled the maca powder it was a smell that was familiar…but familiar in an ancestral sort of way…i knew it was something that i never had before but the smell seemed very…i dont know like built into my brain already…

i would mix it with a scoop of chocolate protein powder and milk for the greatest snack eva
