The Immune System is an Incredible Process
Did your grandmother ever tell you to put a hat on or you would catch a cold? There may have been more to that than just an old wives tale. Your immune system is the first line of defense against catching bacteria or virus that comes your way. The stronger your immune system; the better chance you have fighting off these bugs.
If you go by that logic then, wouldn’t it make sense to say that the stronger your immune system, the fewer infections you will catch? In fact, this is exactly how it works. Just because you are exposed to a person with a cold does not automatically mean that you will catch it. Whether you do or not is dependent on the strength of your own immune system.
You can actually boost your immune system by taking a few preventive measures, which, incidentally, will also help increase your overall level of health and you will be better for it all around.
The most important thing you can do to aid your immune system and any other bodily processes is to make sure that you are getting enough sleep. While you sleep, your body has a chance to recharge its defenses and heal the damage it has sustained during the day when you are active. Because you are not using a lot of energy to sleep, your body can direct it to fighting off infections and preparing for the next onslaught.
Another key factor in immune system health is stress. Just like when you do not get enough sleep, if you are stressed all the time, your body has to focus on dealing with healing the symptoms of that stress, rather than concentrating on your defenses against infection and the like. Both mental and physical stress are factors in this, mental stress being what we normally think of as ‘being stressed’ and physical stress being more on the line of constant hard work, injuries, and other diseases or inflammations already present in the body. The simple fact is, the healthier you are, the healthier you will remain.
Staying well hydrated is another critical way to stay healthy. The fact is, the majority of the population is dehydrated to one degree or another, and if food is your body’s fuel, water is its motor oil. You need to keep things well hydrated and moving smoothly in order for your engine to run properly. You should be drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water every day.
Washing hands is important as well. Germs and viruses can spread easily when you touch an object and then touch near your eyes, throat etc.
Proper nutrition and exercise are also very important in fending off illnesses and staying healthy. This means avoiding junk food, eating lots of healthy foods and fresh produce, possibly taking nutrition supplements, vitamins and minerals, and maintaining an active lifestyle. Move! Exercise is a great way to work off mental stress and clean out toxins as you sweat.
All these things may help your immune system when invaders come along.

If i am overworked and my immune system is getting weak, what can i eat, take or drink to get my strength up and strengthen my immune system. Actually its for my friend…….. She got 2 times in february??? .I am thinking of suggesting Dan Active but i dont know how potent that is. Please tell me stuff that are good. Stuff i can get at the store, not stuff online that i never heard of…. Please please……She looks weak and I dont like seeing her like this……
There are many factors that weaken your immune system, and there are also many things you can do to strengthen it.
Of course, good nutrition is a major factor, but before I give some suggestions on how to boost it, it is important to know the things that weaken it; such as junk food, toxins, stress, poor hygiene, drugs, lack of adequate sleep, and sugar.
Here are some suggestions to strengthen your immune system
1) get plenty of rest. During deep sleep, our body release potent immune-enhancing substances that strengthen your immune system function. By not allowing our body sufficient rest, the immune system will sputter, and as a result, not function at full capacity. We then are more likely to become ill with common illnesses. A healthy, deep sleep allows our body to release a significant amount of growth hormone that boost the immune system and aids in the growth and repair of the body.
2) get moderate and regular exercise
An increase in blood flow associated with moderate exercise helps to circulate antibodies along with white blood cells necessary to fight infection more quickly. As a result, this provides our bodies with an early warning system to ward off potentially damaging germs. In addition, the increase in body temperature as a result of physical activity may aid in inhibiting the growth of bacteria; thus allowing the body to fight infection more effectively.
3) Receiving a Regular Body Cleansing.
Body cleansing is essential because our bodies need to properly eliminate the toxic build up that has formed in our intestines (colon), which may lead to sickness and disease. Our body organs and tissues must be free of toxins for the immune system to function optimally thus enabling our bodies to receive the essential nutrients our bodies need.
4) Boost immune system by drinking plenty of filtered water.
Water is essential for all living things and keeps our immune system operating optimally while improving the way we feel, look and live. Without sufficient amounts of water, you may experience routine fatigue, dry skin, headaches, constipation, and a decrease normal bodily function which may lead to your body unable to fight off diseases. Without water we would literally dehydrate which could result in the shutting down of vital organs and ultimately end in death.
5) Eliminate all sugar and allergens from your diet.
Just a small amount of sugar has been proven to impair white blood cells up to 50% for very short periods of time. By discovering what our personal food allergies are, then eliminating or desensitizing them will help strengthen your immune system. By removing these triggers, our immune cells are strengthened in order to combat other invaders such as influenza rather than the allergen. The elimination of sugar from your diet can also strengthen immune system.
6) Eat nutritiously
Good foods to eat include organic fruits and vegetables, chloretta, medicinal mushrooms like maitake, shiitake, reishi, or turkey tail. Besides water, wheatgrass juice, aloe vera juice, or green tea are good drinks. If it doesn’t rot or sprout, do without.
Stay away from junk food like pop, bake goods, any processed foods. Bad foods contain stuff like refined sugar, sodium nitrite, Trans fats, Mono-sodium glutamate (MSG), Artificial colors, preservatives, and flavors.
7) Take supplements
Supplements are needed because our bodies can not produce the nutrients necessary to maintain optimum health. There are many nutrients needed in order to maintain a strong immune system. It is very challenging in the world we live in to obtain sufficient nutrition with the foods available to us. They are over processed and void of many essential nutrients. Additionally, food is grown in soils that have been over-planted and saturated with synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Vitamin and mineral deficiency subjects us to more diseases, aging, sickness, and the weakening of our immune system.
